Prohibition of Discrimination, Harassment, Misconduct and Retaliation

Henderson State University is committed to providing an environment that is free from harassment and discrimination based upon race, color, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, service in the uniformed services (as defined in state and federal law), veteran status, sex, age, physical disability or mental disability. Such an environment is necessary for a healthy learning, working, and living atmosphere. The university’s Policy Prohibiting Sex- and Gender-Based Discrimination, Harassment, Misconduct and Retaliation prohibits all acts of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and sexual misconduct as defined by the policy. Any suspected violations of this policy should be reported to the Title IX Coordinator: Dr. Allison Vetter, title9@hsu.edu, 870.210.9651.

Henderson State University believes in a zero tolerance policy for sex- and gender-based misconduct. When an allegation of misconduct is brought to the Title IX Coordinator’s attention, and a responding party is found to have violated the university’s policy, effective sanctions will be used to reasonably ensure that such actions are never repeated. The Policy Prohibiting Sex- and Gender-Based Discrimination, Harassment, Misconduct and Retaliation was developed to reaffirm these principles and to provide recourse for those individuals whose rights have been violated. The Policy Prohibiting Sex- and Gender-Based Discrimination, Harassment, Misconduct and Retaliation defines community expectations and establishes a mechanism for determining when those expectations have been violated.
