Henderson State fell to 7-4 in the Gulf South Conference on Tuesday night, dropping a match in Searcy, Ark. to Harding University by scores of 25-22, 15-25, 25-17, 25-19.

Henderson State (14-15 overall) defeated Harding in Arkadelphia on Oct. 8, but struggled in the team’s next to last game of the regular season on Tuesday night. After dropping set one, Henderson State took control early in set two with kills by three time GSC Player of the Week selection Tatiana Kuhn (13 kills, seven digs) and Michelle Long (two kills, six blocks).

The Lady Reddies took a 20-10 lead after a kill by junior Robin Law, who totaled 15 kills and four digs in the match. HSU won game two after a kill by Shawana Watkins (four kills, six digs) and a service error by Harding.

But the Lady Bison one the third and fourth set of the night to earn the victory.

Junior setter Stephanie Batchelder (Chico, Calif.) had one of her best games of the season in a losing effort, leading the team with 19 set assists and totaling 12 digs as well. All-American libero Bethany Wright led the team with 24 digs, while Melissa Silva had 10.

Henderson State will close out its regular season on Thursday night in Arkadelphia when the team plays host to Arkansas Tech at 7 p.m. Lady Reddie seniors Wright, Kuhn, Shannon Todd (three kills, five digs) and Tagata Fo’a (two assists) will be honored before the match.

Henderson State will then travel back to Searcy to compete in the GSC tournament Nov 13 and 14.
