Henderson State clinched a spot in the Gulf South Conference volleyball tournament on Thursday with a four set win against Southern Arkansas in Arkadelphia, defeating the Lady Riders by scores of 25-17, 23-25, 25-19, 25-20.

The Lady Reddies (14-14 overall, 7-3 GSC) will return to the conference tournament for the first time since 2007 after narrowly missing postseason play last season. The conference tournament will be held Nov. 13 and 14.

Senior Tatiana Kuhn paced the squad offensively with a whopping 31 kills (.260) while also adding 10 defensive digs on the night. Junior Robin Law (Phoenix, Ariz.) added 16 kills and hit .256.

Shawana Watkins also performed well offensively for the team with six kills and three digs.

Bethany Wright, the All-American libero from Georgetown, Texas, led the team with 36 digs on the match, adding to her GSC record for total digs in her four year career.

Melissa Silva (15 digs) and senior Shannon Todd (15 digs) also played well defensively for Henderson State.

Dalia Serra totaled 30 set assists, while Stephanie Batchelder earned 15. Brettany Moore, Michelle Long and Todd each totaled two blocks.

Henderson State totaled 18 more kills and 20 more assists than the Lady Riders.

The Lady Reddies will look to win there third straight conference match on Tuesday night when the team travels to play Harding in Searcy, Ark with opening volley set for 7 p.m. The Lady Reddies defeated Harding in three sets Oct. 8 in Arkadelphia.
