Ghioca Finishes 4th at GSC Championships

Sophomore runner Gabriel Ghioca placed fourth in the Gulf South Conference meet over the weekend in Hoover, Al., qualifying as an All-Conference selection with the top-5 finish. The men’s team finished 9th of 11, while the women’s team earned a 11th place finish of 14 teams.

Ghioca adds the fourth place finish to a list of lofty results this year, including two wins, two second place finishes, and two third place finishes in 2009. Ghioca will be considered one of the favorites in the Regional meet in two weeks.

Caleb Mays was the second highest finishing Reddie in 41st position, while Alden Hotz finished 70th. Scott Coffman, Nicholas Pultro, Josh Jorgenson, Jacob Worthner and Steven
Moore also finished for HSU.

The highest finishing Lady Reddie was Tracie Blaire in 36th position. Allison Kliewer finished 50th, while Savanah Meeks finished 58th.

Rachel Pierce, Kim Bergen, Courtney Tull, Chelsea Mansfield, Staci Grandstaff and Brooxie Dossey also finished for HSU.

Both squads will compete in the regional meet Nov. 7 in Brandon, Fl.
