Mental-health emergencies

At times throughout the year a students may find themselves in a crisis.  A family member has become seriously ill or has died.  A student feels suicidal and takes an overdose of medication.  Whatever the emergency situation, having a professional to help manage this crisis is important.

The Counselors at the University Counseling Center provide 24-hour crisis response to the University.

During business hours, you may "walk-in" to the University Counseling Center without an appointment.  The office is located in Suite 109 on the first floor of Mooney Hall, across from Womack.

For an emergency after business hours (after 5 p.m. and on weekends).  The Counselor on-call can be reached through the Henderson Police Department (230-5098) or the Arkadelphia Police Department (870-246-4545.

If you live on-campus, contact the Henderson Police Department, a Resident Director, or a Resident assistant.

If you live off-campus, contact your usual health care provider (e.g., HMO, clinic, primary care physician, or therapist), call 911 or proceed to the nearest hospital emergency room.
