Staff Award for Student Success

Drawn from the core values of the Henderson State University strategic plan, the Staff Award for Student Success is given in recognition of an employee who has dedicated time and services to promoting the success of a student or group of students. It is administered by the Staff Recognition Awards Committee. This honor is awarded once a year.

CRITERIA
The honoree should exhibit superior performance in the following areas:

  • Contributes to the personal, professional, or academic development of a student or group of students above and beyond the expectations of their position
  • Fosters a student-focused atmosphere above and beyond the expectations of their position
  • Contributes to the retention of a student or students above and beyond the expectations of their position
  • Aids the development of student skills in the areas of knowledge, communication or critical thinking above and beyond the expectations of their position
  • Prepares students for success outside the classroom including advising and mentoring
  • Promotes responsible citizenship and community engagement

AWARD ELIGIBILITY
All classified and non-classified staff members in good standing with the university and with at least 6 months of continuous service can be nominated for the Staff Award for Student Success. Nominee must hold a position lower than the level of vice-president.

AWARD HONOREES WILL RECEIVE

  • Award certificate to be presented at the Staff Awards Luncheon
  • $500 monetary award (this is considered taxable compensation to the recipient in accordance with the IRS code)
  • An invitation to a presidential luncheon with other award winners
