Staff Award of Excellence

Henderson State University’s Staff Award of Excellence is administered by the Staff Recognition Awards Committee. This program provides the university with the opportunity to recognize staff contributions and services to Henderson. This honor is awarded four times a year, for the following time periods:

  • May-July
  • August-October
  • November-January
  • February-April

 This award recognizes superior performance in the following areas:

 SERVICE EXCELLENCE

  • Demonstrates exceptional ability in quality of work, proficiency, initiative, skills in dealing with people, dependability, and creativity.
  • Exhibits through personal qualities a high degree of the following: teamwork, positive attitude, willingness to cooperate, ability to relate to others (colleagues and students) in a manner that reflects well upon the University
  • Shows ongoing desire for improvement
  • Has a knowledge and understanding of the University and its functions
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships/communication with co-workers, leadership, and internal/external customers

 COMMITMENT TO UNIVERSITY

  • Service demonstrates an attitude of ongoing commitment to assist Henderson in achieving its mission
  • Contributions have long-lasting benefits to the individual and the university community
  • Supports and participates in departmental and university initiatives

 AWARD ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible, nominees must have at least six months of continuous service to Henderson State University by the nomination deadline, and be current full- or part-time staff employee in good standing. Nominee must hold a position lower than the level of vice-president. Quarterly awards may not be given if the nominations do not provide sufficient justification of meritorious performance.

 AWARD HONOREES WILL RECEIVE

  • Award certificate presented by surprise visit from the president and departmental vice president
  • Staff Award of Excellence Plaque to be presented at the Staff Awards Luncheon
  • $100 monetary award (this is considered taxable compensation to the recipient in accordance with the IRS code)
  • Polo shirt with HSU logo
  • Eligibility for the President’s Staff Excellence Award
  • Luncheon with president and other quarterly award honorees prior to selection of the President’s Staff Excellence Award
