Social Sciences Minor

The Social Sciences minor is only available for students who are pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with a major in a field other than social sciences.

  • ECO2013 or ECO2023 Macroeconomics or Microeconomics - 3 Hours
  • HIS1013 World Civilization to 1660 - 3 Hours
  • HIS1023 World Civilization since 1660 - 3 Hours
  • HIS2053 U.S. History to 1877 - 3 Hours
  • HIS2063 U.S. History since 1877 - 3 Hours
  • HIS (Jr. or Sr. Elective) United States history - 3 Hours*
  • PSC1013 American National Government - 3 Hours
  • GEO1023 or GEO2163 Introduction to Geography or World Geography - 3 Hours

Total minor requirements: 24 Hours

* It is strongly advised that anyone planning to teach social studies classes in Arkansas schools choose HIS4263 Arkansas and the Southwest as his or her elective United States history course. Successful completion of a three-hour course in Arkansas history is a state statutory licensure requirement for all Arkansas social studies teachers.
