What is NSSE?

The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) collects information from freshman and senior students about the characteristics and quality of their undergraduate experience.  The survey measures the extent that students are engaged in effective educational practices that are linked to learning, personal development and other desired outcomes such as persistence, satisfaction and graduation. 

How will Henderson State University use the data collected from the NSSE?

Henderson State University will the results to find out where the university is performing well and areas where improvement can occur in the undergraduate experience.

The data collected will show undergraduate experiences, Henderson’s perceived strengths and weaknesses, identify potential areas of improvement and pinpoint aspects not in line with our mission. Henderson State will develop an action plan to address each of the challenges.

Henderson State is committed to enhancing the academic programs as addressed in the university strategic plan, Priority Two. One of the ways is use the NSSE data associated with academics to benchmark us to other peer institutions.

How do I take the NSSE?

If you are eligible to complete the NSSE survey (freshman and seniors), you will receive an email with the survey link in your Henderson State University email account. 

In appreciation for participating, student who complete the survey by May 1 will be entered in a random drawing for one of four $100 Wal-Mart gift cards.
