International Student Scholarship Application

Henderson State University offers a limited number of scholarships to international students who have been admitted to the university and have received an F-1 visa to attend Henderson.

In order to be considered for an international student scholarship, applicants must have completed their application for admission to the university, must have been admitted as an undergraduate student, and must be non-U.S. citizens who will receive an F-1 visa to study in the United States. Students must submit the attached scholarship application by May 31 for the following fall semseter and October 31 for the following spring semester. Awards for spring semester entry are limted.

Scholarships will be awarded by the Center for International Programs based on student's SAT or ACT scores, financial need, and diversity. Scholarship recipients will be awarded half of their annual scholarship each consecutive semester they attend Henderson, but not more than 8 consecutive semesters, so long as they maintain good academic and financial standing with the university.

Students who do not attend Henderson at the semester for which they have applied for a scholarship must submit a new scholarship application for any future consideration. Scholarship applications will not be deferred to another semester. Returning international students who do not currently receive Henderson issued scholarships or financial aid may apply for consideration at each semester.

Requirements:

  • Students must be admitted to the university.
  • Only F-1 status students are eligible for these awards.
  • Notification of award will not be made until student has secured an F-1 visa.
  • Scholarships are awarded only to undergraduate international students.
  • Scholarship recipients must meet the university residency requirements until completion of credit hours.
  • Students must maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA to keep a scholarship.
  • Scholarships are only applicable for eight consecutive semesters.
  • Scholarships may not be used for summer courses.
  • Students from underrepresented countries will be given strong consideration.
  • Students may not receive this scholarship in addition to other Henderson issued scholarships or financial aid.
  • Students admitted to the English as a Second Language Program do not qualify for these scholarships.

Application Process:

  • Applications for scholarships must be submitted to the Center for International Programs by the appropriate deadline.
  • Scholarship applications must include a personal statement of 500 words, written in English, in which the student discusses his or her goals and why he or she wants to attend Henderson.
  • Applicants must submit official scores from the SAT or ACT at the time of application.
