Mandatory Fees

ACTIVITY FEE ($5.25 per credit hour/no maximum cap): charged to all students enrolled in six (6) or more hours of on-campus classes fall spring only. This fee is used to cover expenses of providing activity programming such as coffee houses, spring fling, concerts and lectures. This fee is refundable only during the 100% bracket.

ADMISSIONS-GRADUATE/APPLICATION FEE ($25.00/$75.00): charged to all students seeking admission to Graduate School at Henderson State University.

ATHLETIC FEE ($17.75 per credit hour/no maximum cap): charged to all students enrolled in on-campus classes, off-campus classes and on-line classes (undergraduate & graduate). This fee is used to cover expenses relating to the university athletic program. This fee is refundable in the 100% bracket only.

BAND FEE ($0.50 per credit hour): charged to all students enrolled in any on-campus classes. This fee is used to offset the cost of band equipment and uniforms. This fee is refundable only during the 100% bracket.

BROADCAST FEE ($7.50): charged to all students enrolled in any on-campus classes. This fee is used to offset the cost of equipment used to operate the radio station and interactive television station. This fee is refundable only during the 100% bracket.

BUILDING & MAINTENANCE FEE ($40.00): charged to all students enrolled in on-campus classes. This fee is used to cover expenses of major maintenance and major repairs to buildings and improvements on campus. This fee is only refundable in the 100% bracket.

COMMUNICATION FEE ($95.00 Fall and Spring; $35.00/$40.00 Summer): charged to all students living in International House, Newberry, Sturgis, East, West, Smith, University Place, Ridge Pointe, and Reddie Villas. This fee is used to cover the basic telephone hookup, cable hookup, and network hookup in each room. This fee is refundable and is prorated on a daily basis for the time spent living in residence halls and apartments.

COURSE CHANGE FEE ($5.00 per form): charged to students adding or dropping a class.  The add/drop is processed in the Registrar's office, and the student must come to the Business Office immediately to have the transaction(s) validated. Transactions not validated by the end of the day are voided. This fee is not refundable.

COURSE RELATED FEES: Various courses have fees that are used to cover expenses of that specific course. See itemized list of courses and fees. These fees are refundable only in the 100% bracket.

DUPLICATE I-20 FORM ($25.00): This fee is charged to international students who request additional I-20 forms. The fee is $25.00 per form and is not refundable.

GARRISON CENTER ASSESSMENT ($2.00 per credit hour/30.00 max. chg.): charged to all students enrolled in on-campus classes. This fee is used to cover the bond indebtedness on the Garrison Center.  This fee is refundable only in the 100% bracket.

GRADUATION APPLICATION FEE ($70.00 graduate, $50.00 undergraduate): charged to students during the semester before graduation. This fee covers the cost of academic apparel and diploma. It must be paid before cap and gown can be ordered. This fee is not refundable.

GRADUATION APPLICATION LATE FEE ($25.00): charged to students who are graduating and have not paid their graduation fee by the scheduled deadline. 

HEALTH FEE  ($48.00 Fall and Spring; $22.00 Summer): charged to all students enrolled in on-campus classes. This fee is used to cover expenses of services provided at the health office, such as over-the-counter medicine, any testing, and a limited nurse practitioner.  This fee is refundable only in the 100% bracket. 

LATE PAYMENT FEE ($50.00): charged to any student who has not paid payment #1 or does not have an approved payment plan by the 2nd class day during the summer sessions and the 5th class day during the fall and spring sessions.

LATE REGISTRATION FEE ($25.00): charged to any student who registers after the scheduled registration day.  The student will process the late registration in the Registrar's Office, and must come to the Business Office immediately to have the transaction(s) validated.  Transactions not validated by the end of the day are voided. This fee is not refundable. 

LIBRARY FEE ($2.50 per credit hour): charged to any student enrolled in on-campus classes.  This fee is used to purchase books, videos and other library materials.  This fee is refundable only in the 100% bracket. 

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION FEE ($50.00): charged to first time undergraduate students. This fee is used to cover all aspects of orientation, registration and Heart Start for first time undergraduate students to include undergraduate transfer students. 

ONLINE FEE ($45.00 PER CLASS): charged to students enrolling in online classes. This fee is used for the development of the online courses.

OUT OF REGION INTERN PLACEMENT FEE ($500.00): charged to students who student teach/intern out of Henderson State University’s region.  (See Dr. Ceyla Taylor for details.)

PUBLICATION FEE ($15.00): charged to all students enrolled in on-campus classes for the Fall and Spring semesters only. This fee is used to offset the cost of publishing the Oracle and Star. This fee is refundable only in the 100% bracket.

RECREATION CENTER FEE ($125.00 fall and spring; $31.25 summer semesters):  charged to all students enrolled in seven (7) or more on-campus classes for the fall and spring semesters.  Charged to any student enrolled during the summer sessions.  This fee is for the usage of the recreation center facility.  This fee is only refundable in the 100% bracket 

TECHNOLOGY FEE ($12.00 per credit hour): charged to all students including on- and off-campus classes.  This fee is used to enhance the data and communication network at Henderson State University. As more applications are added to the network, more bandwidth is required.  The technology fee will allow us to execute long range implementation of the necessary improvements to support the requirements for distance learning, access to dorms, access through dial-up, multi-media applications in classrooms and a fiber optic cabling plant.  This fee is refundable only in the 100% bracket. 

TESTING FEE ($5.00): charged to all students during fall and spring and summer semesters to cover the costs of hiring proctors to administer tests. This fee is only refundable in the 100% bracket. 

VEHICLE REGISTRATION FEE ($30.00):  The $30.00 fee purchases a parking sticker that is good for Fall, Spring, and Summer terms. The cost of the sticker is $20.00 if purchased for Spring and $10.00 if purchased for Summer only.
