Family and Consumer Sciences
Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) is a multidimensional area of professional study. It has been an integral part of the Henderson State University curriculum for over 70 years. This program began as a four-year, vocationally approved program and the curriculum has undergone many changes in order to prepare graduates to compete in the constantly changing workplace.
FCS graduates possess unique professional competencies derived from rigorous integrated training in the physical, biological, and social sciences, and the arts and humanities. They are able to synthesize and apply these competencies through a comprehensive study of the family and its interaction with the environment.
Our dedicated professors welcome students to the department and serve as mentors to them throughout their educational experience. We are housed in Proctor Hall, which allows for intimate class settings and frequent interaction between professors and students.
